Paul W. Poettgen, AFSB
President
Paul is HCDT’s Surety Manager and is responsible for managing bond credit for existing clients and new business development. He graduated summa cum laude from St. Mary’s University with a BA in Economics. Paul started in the bond business in 1976 and spent 11 years with major bonding companies in San Antonio before joining HCDT in 1988. He holds the designation of Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) and is active in AGC, ABC, NASBP and the South Texas Surety Association.
John Poettgen
Vice President and Bond Account Manager
John joined HCDT in July of 2011 to lead new business development for contract bonds and to assist with providing best in class service to existing bond clients. John manages the issuance of bonds and is involved with the reviews of financial statements and bid/contract documents. A 2009 graduate of Texas A&M, he brings a unique skill set to HCDT having worked for a general contractor for two years after graduating from college. John is an active member in the Future Leaders Task Force of the Associated Builders and Contractors of South Texas.
Jeremy Diller, MBA, CPCU, ARM-P, CSRM
Vice President – Business Development
Jeremy joined HCDT in 2017. He began working with public entities in 2002 and has an extensive background in risk management. He has worked with universities, community colleges, schools, and counties. He received an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and an undergraduate degree from Wheaton College, IL. He holds a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, an Associate in Risk Management (ARM-P) designation, and a Certified School Risk Manager (CSRM) designation. He teaches courses for the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research and serves on the board of directors for Bandera Electric Cooperative. Jeremy develops new business opportunities for the agency and assist existing clients.
Therese M. Iglesias, CIC, LUTCF
Vice President – Property & Casualty
Therese joined HCDT in 2019 and is responsible for the overall management of existing agency Property & Casualty accounts. She assists producers with placement and managing of their prospective and existing Property & Casualty accounts. Originally from the island of Guam, Therese started her career in the insurance industry in 1988. She moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1991 where she has continued to pursue her career in the insurance industry. She holds a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellowship (LUTCF) designations. Therese has served on the Board for The Insurance Women of San Antonio.
Lisa Tafolla, ACSR
Insurance Service Manager
Lisa has almost 40 years of experience in the insurance industry. She joined HCDT in 1995 and has been providing our customers with valuable insurance knowledge and expertise ever since. Lisa is responsible for handing renewal business, policy endorsements, and claims assistance. Lisa holds the designation of Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR) and served on the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas ACSR Advisory Council.
Nevada Martinez
Bond Customer Service Representative
Nevada joined HCDT in July 2018 as our Bond Customer Service Representative. In this position, she helps us provide great customer service to our contractor clients by managing the issuance of all bond documents and all bond-related accounting while keeping our bond files up to date. More often than not, her cheerful voice will be the first one you hear when calling our office. She joined HCDT when she and her family relocated to San Antonio from Tallahassee, Florida. While living in Tallahassee, Nevada’s work experience included 12 years as a Legal Assistant for several private law firms and for the Office of the General Counsel for the State of Florida’s Department of Financial Services.
